Missing in Mudbug GhostinLaw Mystery/Romance Book 5 edition by Jana DeLeon Romance eBooks
Things start out happy go lucky in this fifth installment in the series but quickly turn grim when Raissa Bordeaux turns up missing. Mudbug fans will love that this book includes many of the characters introduced over the course of the entire series. Once again, Jana DeLeon has a perfect blend of mystery, suspense and that small town bayou humor. This is the first in the series that I felt shouldn't be read as a stand-alone book so would recommend starting with the first, Trouble in Mudbug. Another great read and can't wait for the next one!Product details

Missing in Mudbug GhostinLaw Mystery/Romance Book 5 edition by Jana DeLeon Romance eBooks Reviews
I love all the books in the Ghost-in-Law series and have purchased the and Audible upgrades for all of them except for this one. I have the version but I desperately want to get an Audible upgrade for it so I can listen to it while I'm taking the train to and from work everyday. These books make my hour long commute (each way), light and enjoyable. They always bring a smile to my face and bring me to such a fabulous place filled with wonderfully colorful characters. Please keep including the option to purchase the Audible upgrade for your books. I want to listen to your delightful stories. When I read on the train, I fall asleep )
A friend recommended this to me, and while "chick lit" wasn't my thing, Jana DeLeon changed my mind. I began with the first novel in the Mudbug series, and couldn't stop reading. Okay, yes, there were a few paragraphs and pages I skimmed because I wasn't interested in the romantic bodice-ripper type scenes, but overall I fell in love with the characters, the wit, the imagination. Well done and thank you for all your efforts, Ms DeLeon!
Missing in Mudbug is book five in the Ghost-In-Law series. If you have not read the other books in the series, this is probably not the best book to start with. There is a lot of back story missing from this book. But if you have read the others, I would highly recommend this one. In my opinion it's the best in the series. I really liked it.
Once again we are back in the tiny town of Mudbug Louisiana. Our two favorite FBI agents, Raissa and Zach (from Showdown in Mudbug), are in deep trouble. Zach is found unconscious on the side of the highway, and Raissa is missing. Presumably kidnapped by whoever ran down Zach and left him for dead.
The FBI is being it's usual helpful self. As in not helping at all. So, with Raissa's car found dumped in the swamp, it makes it technically our new game warden Jadyn's jurisdiction. She, as usual is aided by the sexy Sheriff of Mudbug, Colt. The two of them decide to go a different direction with the investigation. And end up finding a whole lot more than they bargained for. Stolen cars being dumped in the swamp, evidence of a chop shop, being run out of Mudbug, and FBI agents who couldn't find their own way home without written directions. Not to mention our favorite ghost, Helena is back with her own brand of help. Which in most cases is more trouble than help.
I have to say, at the end of the last book, Resurrection in Mudbug, I was really hoping that Colt and Jadyn would get together, like the previous couples in the earlier books. But it just wasn't in the cards for them. At least not at that time. This book is take two for the couple. It's a lot of fun watching them fight their attraction for each other. I still have high hopes for them. I loved seeing all the past characters coming together in this book to help look for their friend Raissa. It was like a big family reunion. Loved the book.
4 STARS
I love this series. It is light, fun cozy mystery. The characters I love.
The ghost-in-law is Helen. She reminds me of lucy in I love Lucy. Always causing a mess of trouble that makes you laugh. She wears weird outfits, she can't always control. She can't control sometimes if she has mass or not always at the wrong moments. She is always stealing food.
Only a few women can see her. Helen used to be rich.
Jadyn St. James is the new game warden. She is Maryse's cousin. She has not been to the area for too long. Has issues with her mother. She can see Helen.
Maryse Robicheaux was the daughter-in-law to Helen. She was the first to see and hear Helen at the funeral. They did not get along. Helen left her most everything because she knew Maryse would protect the land. She is now married to Luc a DEA Agent.
Sheriff Colt Bertrand is attracted to Jadyn. Colt is tricky. He wants to help find his friend even if she is not found in his area.
One FBI Agent was run over by hit and run on his way back to town. His wife another FBI Agent Raissa Bordeaux is missing. The two agents are married. They had just finished a undercover assignment.
The FBI Agent in charge wants everyone not FBI to stay out of the swampland. Maryse actually owns the land and leases it to the state. Jadyn has authority over the swamp. Colt figures out if he takes his vacation and can be a private contractor working under Jadyn they can search the cabins in the swampland and look to see if someone has been using one to keep Raissa.
I laughed a lot reading this book. I am glad to see more of these characters.
I bought it on .
Consider this a review of all the Mudbug books. After I read this one, I went back and re-read all the others. What I liked best? The characters--all of them. The back stories are developed slowly throughout the series--for the women, anyway--and the series is really all about the women. All the women are strong and the men are good looking. In fact, All the good guy men are hunks and unbelievably wonderful. But that's ok, I like me some hunks sometimes. The bad guys are more developed and not all of them are ugly. The best part of the series, yeah, I have two best parts, is the plotting. Each book has its own story but there is a plot that also binds the first three books together. I think they call that a story arc. Brilliant. Reading the first three books twice enhanced that! There is a good sense of time and place. You could almost draw maps and floor plans and you don't get unstuck in time.
Excuse me now, I just found out that the latest Mudbug book is out and I must go read Chaos in Mudbug.
